Night Stalker

Taking night photos is quickly becoming one of my favorite things to do. It’s more accessible now than ever before. You can instantly see results and troubleshoot off of what you get.

Classic Shot (1 of 1)

The pictures do turn out great and the great light effects from long exposures are awesome to see. But in the end it’s just fun getting out and doing it.

Work Hours (1 of 1)

I get lost in the quiet of shooting at night. Especially in the dead of winter. Even growing up I would venture off when the sun went down. Just some ideas, your thoughts, and a calmness that quiet brings. Nothing but searching for a semi-unexpected result of what you are shooting..you plan but you really wont know until you look at your pic….then when you do see it? gold…you found something spectacular in the dark… something unique… something you found being in that exact moment at that exact time.

This is for those ‘Night Stalkers’ out there, looking for that golden image.

Subject Matter

What makes a good photo? I was always told to look for a subject…a background….a main and fill light. Sometimes something good just happens. No need to explain or use a science to conclude why you took that photo..or how that photo made you feel.Shared

It may just be my point of view sometimes….It may be something I feel lucky to notice…some sight I wanna share.

story

Maybe its something I see in passing…and makes a different reaction from someone else…or it’s something I just enjoy talking about afterwards..or that story I am curious about when I come across another person’s photo.

beach

What matters to me in my photos…or what mattered to someone and made them take theirs. I think those are the best subjects.

Keep looking

I spent part of my weekend camping at Lake Mille Lacs with the fam. no idea where to shoot…no set plan…no specific site I wanted to visit. I found a dock by the lake and began shooting there, but it didn’t look like I’d have a good view of the sun from that vantage point. I had a quick thought to head back to the campsite , but I decided to wander further along the lakeshore paths.

Came around the corner and saw this….

truly fortunate to be in the right place at the right moment to see this and get some amazing shots

Mille Lacs

I could have easily went back..and this particular set of pics might have been forgettable. I’m glad I kept looking…maybe that applies to life too
